Electric Power Conversions Australia (EPCA) is a majority Aboriginal-owned engineering company pioneering the electrification of heavy mining equipment. Based in Western Australia, EPCA is the first company in the country to retrofit a 100-tonne diesel haul truck to full battery electric, which was tested on the mine site for 6 months. By converting existing fleets, EPCA offers a faster, lower-cost pathway to decarbonisation for the mining sector, without sacrificing performance or reliability. EPCA's innovative circular approach extends the life of trusted existing equipment, reduces fuel and maintenance costs, and avoids the long lead times and capital outlay of buying a brand-new electric truck.
